Collectively, they are a fine example of a sensibility and style that encapsulates the current Scandinavian design ethic. Scandinavia has enjoyed a high profile within the realms of product design and architecture since the 1960’s, however, the current generation of creatives has been increasingly successful within the graphics and illustration fields. Often using folklore as a base, interweaving environmental awareness and ethical responsibility with ‘hipster’ attitude, these artists have created a new design language that has a wide reaching impact amongst its peer group. Scandinavia is the part of the world that everyone is currently looking at for clean, efficient design, not just for the usual design produce, but for graphics and illustration too: The esteemed publication, Monocle, recently voted Copenhagen World Design City (a title that gets bandied around only too easily) but the title has stuck. It rings true...
